Dear Sirs,

I wonder if it is permitted to run the tools under a virtual machine environment?

If yes, here is the situation I got down below.
If there is any chance I fixed it?
Thank you.

[CASE]
I installed OVPsim.20170201.0.Linux32.exe under a virtualBox-Ubuntu environment.

And I use the hostName and hostId from
-----
cmd:hostname
cmd:ifconfig // responsed HWaddr
----
to apply for license.

But it seemed not working due to the error information below
when I run the Examples/PlatformConstruction/simpleCpuMemory/
----------
# iGen Create OP MODULE module
Error (LIC_NE) License not available. FLEXLM reports:

No such feature exists.
Feature: IMP_OVPSIM
License path: /usr/cad/Imperas.20170201/OVPsim.lic:
FLEXnet Licensing error:-5,357

Invalid host.
The hostid of this system does not match the hostid
specified in the license file.
Feature: IMP_OVPSIM_20170201
Hostid: (masked here, but It is the HostId I used to apply license)
License path: /usr/cad/Imperas.20170201/OVPsim.lic:
FLEXnet Licensing error:-9,57

Sorry, I did not see your post.

The simulation product can be run in a virtual machine BUT the license server must be executed on a physical machine.

Hello everyone,

Even I am also facing this issue.

It seems the bundled lmutil is a little outdated.

Currently the tools/license are installed on a Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit system.

Here is a similar posted on the Xilinx forum for the tool:https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/60510.html

Let me know if there is a possibility of updating the tool.

Otherwise It might cause issues since the proposed is not ideal as mentioned in the Xilinx forum.

We are currently working to update the license software used.

Hello,

Thank you for your assistance, and sorry for the late response.

Is there a time-line when we can expect the license utilities to be updated in the OVPSim release?

As I am currently blocked with further activities.

Regards,
Ameya Vikram Singh

There are other alternatives to resolve this issue that are discussed in the Installation and Getting Started Guide, section Appendix F.5 Ethernet Adapter Naming/HostId is zero

I expect the changes would be provided in the next quarterly release.

Hello @DuncGrah,

Thank you for the assistance.

Currently the system on which it is installed is also running other tools/applications.

I do not know if the changes required for the license utility will have any implications to other services on the system.

It would be a risk in-case the system is down.

Regards,
Ameya
