Update #5

Thank you for your continued interest in Open Virtual Platforms.

This update is to keep you informed as to our progress with Open Virtual Platforms (OVP).

The new release is out and many people have been using it in Beta - and it is now generally
available. We are also from now on putting a release note up on the site
(see the downloads page: http://www.ovpworld.org/download.php) so you can see what has changed before
you download.

Key new capabilities in this release are platforms, peripherals, and cpu models for the ARM7, ARM9,
and ARM10 families of processor cores. The platforms include an Atmel platform that boots uClinux
and a virtual platform model of the ARM IntegratorCP platform that boots Linux2.6. All of these are
available for free download from the ARM download page (http://www.ovpworld.org/download_ARM.php).
To find out what is available look at the wikki page
(http://www.ovpworld.org/library/wikka.php?wakka=ARMHoldingsPage).

The release also includes many enhancements to the VMI and ICM APIs and the simulator includes many
bug fixes.

OVP was represented at a lively panel at the Design Automation Conference in San Francisco last
week as part of the first Virtual Platform Workshop. As you are interested in virtual platforms and
their usage I would suggest you have a look at the reviews of the workshop
(http://www.chipdesignmag.com/martins/2009/07/30/day-3-of-dac-2009-virtual-platform-workshop/,

http://www.cadence.com/Community/blogs/sd/archive/2009/07/30/1st-ever-virtual-platform-workshop-deemed-a-success.aspx,
http://www.imperas.com/archives/310, http://www.ovpworld.org/newsblog/?cat=4)
and look at the slides presented by Cadence, Mentor, Synopsys, Imperas, Intel, ARM, Qualcomm,
CoWare, Carbon, Eve, etc.

So please do come back to the OVP site and visit, have a look at the new technology, download the
new release, catch up with
items on the forum, and ask any questions you have.

Thank you for your support and interest.
