Hi,

I am trying to Run a MipsMaltaLinux demo provided in the Demos directory.

For 24KEc variant it is booting the vmlinux and showing the linux shell.

But, I would like to run the provided vmlinux on the proAptiv variant.
When I change the variant to proAptiv and try to run, the simulation is halted.

It is opening the window. But, not displaed anything.

I hae seen the uartttylog file, it shows:

Kernel panic - not syncing: No TLB refill handler yet ( CPU type:0 )

Thanks,
BalaKasaiah.

The kernel must be built to support the processor on which you wish to run it.

Changing the variant setting is effectively changing the processor being used so I would expect the kernel boot to fail.

I am afraid there is not an easy answer, there is work to be done. i would recommend looking at the Imagination Technologies/MIPS Linux Kernel references as a starting point.

What is your end goal to accomplish?

Hi DuncGrah,

I would like to run an embedded linux on the mips proAptiv variant. I found vmlinux in the demos directory. so, I proceeded using it.

Thanks,
BalaKasaiah.

Hi, The compiled Linux kernel (vmlinux) provided with this demo is based upon a Linux Kernel version 2.6.23.11 which did not support the proAptiv. You will need to build a later version of the Linux kernel that does include support for the proAptiv.

You could maybe start here http://www.linux-mips.org/wiki/Main_Page

Hi DuncGrah,

I tried with linux-3.14 kernel. I am facing one more problem.

Here is the issue: It is halting by showing the message:

random: nonblocking pool is initialized.

I know, it is a problem related to kernel building.
Can you provide help in solving this issue.

And can you clarify, what sort of commands can we pass from the smartLoaderLinux provided from mips.ovpworld.org. Because, we are sending only the console command.

Thanks and Regards,
BalaKasaiah.

Hi,

The issue is solved.

I have made couple of changes in the platform file.

1) Changed console from tty0 to ttys0 for smartLoaderLinux.
2) Enabled the uarttty0 console.

On running the simulation, uarttty0 console is acting as a shell.

Regards,
Balakasaiah.
